As it has been widely discussed, artificial intelligence comes with a series of pros and cons. Since the use of generative AI is relatively new, at first, I had a hesitant perspective, especially because  AI can cause students to engage in dishonest actions, like cheating. However, I do think that it is more beneficial to teach students how to properly use AI as it is undoubtedly a great tool to use nowadays. In addition, I believe this is something that must be taught when students are between 7th and 12th grade.
When I was in high school, I really didn’t use social media platforms for educational purposes. When I started my psychology courses at college, I was so motivated to learn everything I could that I started using Instagram and TikTok to follow psychologists who shared their experiences and educational videos. However, I never really interacted with the creators. These platforms can be helpful for my career because they make it easier to find a professional working in my desired field, and networking can be more quick and effective.
It’s hard for me to categorize my school as either digitally rich or digitally poor, as I think I would place it somewhere in between. During elementary, middle, and high school, we did have a computer lab, and we had a technology class once a week. However, for all other classes, the only technology that was frequently used was a smart board. My K-12 technology experience prepared me to use tools like Word, Powerpoint, Canva, and Google Docs during college, which has been pretty useful. My early experiences support me because even though I wasn’t taught how to use all the tools perfectly, what I learned was enough to motivate me to learn more by myself. However, I would have really appreciated it if I had a teacher who was highly proficient in technology so we could learn more in school.

Some software tools I would like to implement in my future classrooms to support collaborative writing are Google Docs and Miro board because my experiences with these tools have been positive and they are user friendly. I would implement these by using Miro Board for brainstorming ideas and Google Docs for writing drafts and final papers. A lesson where these tools might be helpful is when reading a book in class. Miro Board can be used to summarize the important ideas from the book and Google Docs to write an essay on a prompt. To prepare students for success,  I would thoroughly explain in class how to properly use these tools instead of assuming they already know how to use them.
