I have really enjoyed the blogging experience. I like the concept of being able to share my opinions and experiences for others to learn from them. I have also enjoyed the process of decorating my blog. However, one thing that I have not been loving is the website Blogger. There are not as many resources for decorating my blogs as I would like to,  but it is a good option for getting started.  During this process, I have learned that having a blog is a great way to express what we know about our topics of interest, and by sharing these ideas, we can find others who have similar interests. I had never considered how practical generative AI can be for teachers. I was surprised to see that Chat GPT can create worksheets in a format ready to download and print out. In order to get a properly detailed lesson plan, I went back and forth with the chat multiple times to add my feedback and specify what type of information I wanted the chat to add. I noticed that by using this strateg...

As it has been widely discussed, artificial intelligence comes with a series of pros and cons. Since the use of generative AI is relatively new, at first, I had a hesitant perspective, especially because  AI can cause students to engage in dishonest actions, like cheating. However, I do think that it is more beneficial to teach students how to properly use AI as it is undoubtedly a great tool to use nowadays. In addition, I believe this is something that must be taught when students are between 7th and 12th grade. When I was in high school, I really didn’t use social media platforms for educational purposes. When I started my psychology courses at college, I was so motivated to learn everything I could that I started using Instagram and TikTok to follow psychologists who shared their experiences and educational videos. However, I never really interacted with the creators. These platforms can be helpful for my career because they make it easier to find a professional working ...

One digital standard that caught my attention is the ELA.8.C.5.2. This standard explains the importance of learning how to use a variety of digital tools that make it easier to collaborate with others when producing written material. With my current skill set, I do feel prepared to implement this standard with my students. I have experience using online tools like Google Docs, which are extremely helpful when simultaneously working with a group to write an article, paper, or any other written product. If my students face difficulties, I would be able to answer their questions and guide them through the learning process. As a psychology student, I was intrigued by reading the standards set for this subject. Even though the standards were very specific and diverse, one thing I noticed was the lack of resources listed for most of the standards. Out of the first 20 standards that appeared, only one had listed resources, SS.912.P.2.2 (describe and compare a variety of quantitative and...

As teachers, it’s extremely important to know when it’s appropriate to use online resources for in-class activities and when it’s best to create our own instructional material due to copyright laws. The best way to prevent issues with copyright and fair use is by getting educated on the topic. If, as teachers, we prioritize understanding these restrictions, we can help our students understand them as well. By having the initiative of adding a copyright-related poster in the classroom, we can make sure students feel comfortable asking related questions, which will allow teachers to help them have no issues when creating their work. One new thing I recently learned from this topic is that paying the author to use their creation is sometimes not enough and that many factors can affect how and when we can use copyrighted content. One of the main technology implementation issues that have emerged is academic dishonesty, which includes cheating and plagiarism. Even though resources like Goog...

Microsoft Word is a tool I have used multiple times as a student. While in middle school, we learned how to use the software as part of our technology class and the skill has been useful ever since. In high school, I had multiple assignments that required MS, including writing essays and making content summaries. It also has been a great tool for writing my class notes during college. I still use it very frequently for my college assignments, but I do sometimes prefer Google Docs as their format is a lot more friendly. I have also had times where the grammar check setting on MS turns off so I end up moving to Google Docs to finish assignments.   The most meaningful ISTE standard for me is 2.2 Leader. I have always believed that educators have a big responsibility as they directly influence their students' lives. Growing up, I had multiple teachers who only cared about following the curriculum and had little to no interest in our success. If educators act like leaders within the cla...
